About me
Clay Distler has 9 years of experience as a forensic social worker at the Legal Aid Society in New York City. In this role, he has performed bio-psychosocial assessments of clients, advocated on their behalf, and made treatment recommendations. He has worked as part of the legal team for each client, providing mitigation that has often been helpful in achieving better outcomes, primarily on felony cases. In addition, his work at Legal Aid has been to establish a meaningful rapport and to provide and therapeutic listening to clients, helping them address underlying issues relevant to the charges or alleged behavior.
Prior to working at Legal Aid, Mr. Distler has worked in hospice care, and at a wilderness treatment center for adjudicated youth. Currently, he is also a matriculated student at a psychoanalytic institute.
